He is nine years old and like most typical boys likes to run around, play with frogs, and ride his bike. But he is not quite like the other typical boys in many ways. Elijah has Asperger’s Syndrome, OCD, and ADHD. My husband, Kris, and I have traveled a very difficult road with our son.
There were some red flags during Elijah’s preschool years and even kindergarten but we didn’t recognize them. Due to Kris’ job in the Air Force we had made many moves and figured that was the reason for Elijah’s stress. But then he absolutely fell apart in the 1st grade. He became pretty much nonfunctional both at school and at home. Elijah was very aggressive and volatile.
Elijah has come a long way in the past three years! Unfortunately we felt we had no choice but to put him on medication in order to calm him enough to start nuero-feedback treatment at the Drake Institute. After that he also had vision therapy to correct his visual processing disorders. Both were long and tedious but they proved to be quite beneficial. Along the way we discovered Elijah has a massive yeast overgrowth.
He takes medication and probiotics for that.
There is something else that Elijah takes that we have found to have profound benefits for him. It is a liquid nutritional supplement called Vemma (pronounced veema). Vemma stands for Vitamins, Essential Minerals, Mangosteen, and Aloe. For years I have tried every type of product to get good nutrition into Elijah. I knew he was not getting what he needed from his limited picky-eater diet. And the fact is it’s nearly impossible for anyone to get full nutrition from our food sources even if you did eat the daily recommended servings of fruits, veggies, and grains. Due to mega farming practices and erosion our soils are now dramatically depleted of the nutrients our bodies need. There is evidence that as the nutrition in our foods have gone down, the rate of disease has gone up.
As a matter of fact, the Journal of the American Medical Association (June 2003) is now recommending that everyone take a quality vitamin and mineral supplement.
Several months ago, a friend told us about Vemma and let Elijah try it. He loved it!!! Finally!!!
He has been taking it for six months now and the results are remarkable! Elijah is much more calm now, so much so we are in the process of taking him off his original medication! And we just realized he’s not asking for an ice pack to lay on his tummy in order to fall asleep.
That was how he dealt with his chronic tummy aches for years. Here’s another benefit. Vemma has an energy drink called Verve which has 2 oz of the exact same liquid nutrition plus 6 oz of sparkling water and an energy blend. Elijah was having difficulty focusing in school and finishing his work.
We didn’t want to put him on yet another drug for the ADHD so I started giving him a half a can of Verve before school and sent the other half in his lunch. The results have been incredible! His teachers, the principal, and even the librarian all say he’s a different child!!!
You can imagine how elated we are to see such remarkable changes in our son. It is amazing how the right nutrition is so very important. It’s not just important for Elijah, it’s important for you too! It is absolutely critical to make good nutrition a top priority in your life.
Your body needs you to treat it as if you plan to keep it for the rest of your life!
