Bill Clinton Gives Boost to Efforts to Fight Childhood Obesity

“There’s a risk this generation of children are going to be the first in our history to have shorter life spans than their parents,” said Dr. Tim Gardner

Bill Clinton announced plan to combat obesity in America this week.

According to the Healthy Living Freedom Blog In Orange County, 21 percent of children are fat or obese. The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is a joint venture between Clinton’s foundation and the American Heart Association. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a co-leader of the project.

It seems a lot of big names are getting behind this intiative including the American  Heart Association, Blue cross, and Aetna. It is nice to see such an impressive group of industry leaders encouraging kids and their families to be healthy.  Childhood obesity is a growing problem and concern.  I don’t want to think about this next generation of children growing up under the umberella of fear that they will have a shorter life span than their parents.  That is a huge cause for concern.

Children’s health is a concern of Children’s Educational Network, CEO, Greg Writer as well.  CEN has teamed up with the Vemma corporation to provide families with a great tasting liquid vitamin alternative to the pills that kids hate to take (and usually don’t).  Vemma also has a healthy energy drink called Verve! with a full daily dose of vitamins and provides a healthy alternative to the mass consumption of the high sugar, high caffine energy drinks that are on the market.
