Who is this Seal for?

This best practices seal is intended for any online product designed for use by children, and that wishes to verify that its product is age-appropriate and safely designed. Earning this badge will help position your product favorably in a competitive marketplace. It is also a stepping stone toward earning a regulatory compliance seal, such as kidSAFE+ COPPA certification. This seal is ideal for the following types of products/companies.

Social and UGC Products

Apps and websites with social or community features (e.g., virtual world, social networking, user-to-user chat or messaging, public sharing of user-generated content, live tutoring, etc.)

Connected Devices

Products with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or network connectivity (e.g., tablets, phones, smartwatches, geotracking devices, game consoles, robotics, AI toys, audio players, smart speakers, etc.)

AI-Enabled Products

Consumer-facing products with AI-powered features (e.g., chatbots, interactive toys, AI-generated media, etc.)

Products with Minimal Data Collection

Consumer-facing digital products with minimal data collection (e.g., informational websites, smart TV apps, toys and games with offline digital play experiences, etc.)

Service Providers

Vendors servicing the kids digital space (e.g., analytics platforms, advertising services, filtering/moderation solutions, AI platforms, etc.)

Products Not Regulated by COPPA

Companies based outside of the US whose digital products do not attract US consumers
